Loki x Reader One-Shot: One Was Imprisoned

A Fan Fiction by SophiaofTerra

It’s not as if you had wished for this job. In fact, the job was one that nobody but you had volunteered for. Working at S.H.I.E.L.D. has always been interesting, but everything went crazy the minute ‘Loki’ stepped in STARK Tower. You had only joined S.H.I.E.L.D. a couple of months ago, but Fury thought that you were especially qualified for this specific job. At first you were confused, but after a while of thinking it over, you realized why. You had no experience with Loki whatsoever, so you wouldn’t try to do anything stupid in his presence.

You were to stay at STARK Tower and watch Loki until they had his cell fixed back on Ásgarðr. You knew of the Nine Realms: Miðgarðr, Ásgarðr, Vanaheimr, Jötunheimr, Álfheimr, Hel, Svartálfaheimr, Niflheimr, and Muspellsheimr. Based on what you had read up on, Loki was the God of Mischief from Jötunheimr who had tried to take over the world. You thought yourself quite lucky to have been far away from New York that day; you were visiting your friends in Seattle.

You sigh inwardly as you walk through the automatic doors of STARK Tower. You didn’t exactly want to deal with a mass criminal, but you had made a promise. You smile sweetly at random people as you walk by. You are wearing a S.H.I.E.L.D. jumpsuit, and you giggle slightly as you realize that men are looking your way. You just decide to keep on walking.

You firmly press the up button and pad in quietly. You tap your feet as the doors shut and wait patiently. You begin to hum the tune ‘Life’s for the Living’ by Passenger. The lights are oddly dim, and you wonder if it was just Mr. Stark’s preference. You cast the thought aside as the doors open to reveal a very large room. You check the button that you had pressed to confirm that you had come to the correct floor. You smile as your thoughts are confirmed. Wrong floor.

You huff and step back into the elevator. You press the correct button and wait yet again as the elevator goes up. The ‘ding’ of the machine was all you needed to begin walking towards the exit. You walk into the room and realize that you are staring directly at a glass cell. You narrow your eyes at the man faced away from you. His tall form is leaned against the back of the glass, as if he were tired. He was in a leather outfit that shone in the colors of green and gold. Since he doesn’t seem to notice your presence, you decide to introduce yourself.

          “Hi."

At this, his head turns slightly, but he still faces away from you. You think that you hear him mumble something in response, but you aren’t sure. “Speak up, please.”

          “Hello.”

You smile widely. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Loki. I have heard much about you.”

“Oh, of course you have, _____.” Wha- How?

“How do you know my name?” Your brows furrow in concern as he smirks.

He looks away from you. “I have my ways. You should know that.”

You are still completely confused. There is no reason in the tree of Yggdrasil why he should know your name. It also confused you because he was so calm about knowing, too, as if it was the obvious answer.

“Well, I am here to watch you and make sure that you don’t cause too much damage while you are here.”

There is no need to speak, _____, for we can communicate like this. Don’t you remember?’

You stare at his face in shock. Everything that this man said or did was bizarre to you. Remember? What am I supposed to remember?  Now he was confused. ‘Are you saying that you remember nothing?’

His face contorts in pain, as if he had just been hurt deeply. You could not understand what for, though. Looking down awkwardly, you try to recall any time that you might have had any interactions with Loki, but your memory was coming up short. I’m sorry, but I’ve never met you before. He frowns and straightens his stance. ‘Yes you have. I remember you. You should remember, too. Don’t you recall Ásgarðr, the realm eternal?’

I know what that is, but I don’t think that I have ever visited before. I have been told it’s a beautiful place.

He chuckled aloud. ‘Yes, it is quite magnificent.’ You widened your eyes a bit as he looked at you. A tear stained his pale cheek and his eyes watered a bit. “It’s unwise to be in my company now, _____. Please leave.”

You didn’t need to be asked twice. All of this was getting a bit hard to take in. You smile softly and turn to leave. You mutter a quick ‘goodbye’ before you press for the elevator.

          ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

You read the elevator sign that read ‘Floor 57’ and frown. The elevator isn’t moving anymore. You figure that it is just a hold up, and that it will begin to move again. Before you can contemplate any more, the lights go out. You scream as the elevator begins to fall.

          “J.A.R.V.I.S.?” No response. “J.A.R.V.I.S.?"

You close your eyes in anticipation and the machine rocks against all of the friction.

And before you know it, everything fades out.

          ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

You are in a dense forest. You look around to notice it is snowing. Without even realizing it, you begin to walk forward. You smile at the sight ahead of you; a boy and a girl had gone out on the lake. They were skating in beautiful swings and swirls, and you could feel the love between them. Walking closer still, you laugh as they come into better view. They smile sweetly at each other as he pulls her closer to him, and the girl giggles at the position. She closes her eyes as they lean in and kiss.

Suddenly, memories flow back to you. Dancing around in the rain on golden floors, hiding from guards in the stables, lying in bed and smiling at the ceiling, and a kiss. You try to look closer at the couple as your eyes water and tears roll down your cheek. His hair was slicked back, and his form was tall. His attire was of the colors green and gold, and he looked like the happiest man alive. You close your eyes and huddle in your jacket. The girl had (h/l) (h/c) hair and was wearing a (f/c) dress. You sob as you come to a conclusion.

Your love was imprisoned, and there was nothing that you could do.

Here's the One-Shot that I had promised! Happy Halloween, everyone!

I know it's sad, and believe me, I tried to make it as happy as I could for a moment. But as always, my work has turned into a depressor. Sorry 'bout that. Grr.

I hope you all understood what was going on... and that you liked it! It is 1125 words... pretty proud of that! But the story wasn't that good... Sweating a little...

I do not own the rights to Loki or the MARVEL settings. I don't have the rights for the song by Passenger, either. You should check it out, it's a great song!

I appreciate all of your feedback. This story is dedicated to my best friend Emi, or ~lunarstar7. Go give her page a check, she's great! Love
