Thor: The Dark World spoilers ahead! {But I suspect most of you have seen it already. :)}

~*~*~*~*~*~

This couldn’t happen. No- this wasn’t happening! Loki, a prince of Asgard, was being sentenced to a cell. He would be left to rot in the deepest, darkest cellars of Asgard’s dungeons. You knew full well what he had done on Midgard, but you couldn’t bring it on yourself to hate him for what he did. After all, you have had a crush on him for the past 800 years. Not that he knew that, of course. He didn’t even know that you existed.

            Today he would.

Being an enchantress of sorts, you had the ability to cast majik. You began with an invisibility spell and once you were fully concealed you headed towards the gates. There were guards on each side, armed with weapons that glistened brightly in the sunlight. You quickly calculated how you would go about getting by them. You padded lightly on the dusty pavement and advanced to the (oddly) open gates. Without a second glance, you walked through the large doors.

When you went through, you picked up your pace a bit. You were not even in the palace yet, and you saw all of the beauty it beheld already. Golden pillars stood on the sparkling ground and walls refracted rainbows from the shafts of light. Tapestries adorned the walls, but you frowned when you found one to be missing. They must have taken down Loki’s. How kind-hearted.

You shook your head and made your way through the main entrance. The inner halls were just as grand as the outside, and you realized quickly that without a map it may be hard to navigate the halls. You dropped the thought and just concentrated on making it to the dungeons. You turned through each hall, and with the next even more would sprout from it. If you found the center, you may be able to locate the correct hall…

You could feel your majik weakening and your eyes widened as you began to see yourself. This would only be good if you ran to the next hall. And then the next. And the one after that. And released him. Oh dear. You began re-casting the same spell, but your majik was really running low. What was your plan, anyway? To break into the dungeons and free Loki?

Yep. That was the plan. Not very good now that you thought of it.

You knew that sprinting meant sound. You also knew that sound meant alarm. From that alarm, you had guards. And from guards, you had a capture. Then…. You’d rather not think past then.

Despite all of the thoughts that ran through your head, you broke into a sprint and ran behind the next pillar. When you thought the coast was clear, you sprinted behind the next pillar, and the next. Now you were not concealed at all, and you knew it was now or never. After all, the entrance to the staircase to the dungeons was straight in front of you. All you needed to do was get there.

            “Halt!”

Well there goes that idea. Plan B I suppose.

You turned around swiftly to find a sword pointed to your throat.

“Woah- okay sir. How are you doing on this lovely morning?”

He narrowed his eyes and withdrew his sword a bit.

“I am faring well. What brings you to these parts?”

Uh… I want to break out a highly dangerous war-criminal?

“I was simply marveling at the magnificence of the castle. It is a simply spectacular piece of architecture, isn’t it?”

“It is. What is your name, madam?”

            You swallowed hard. “(Y/n).”

“Well, (Y/n), we need to take you to our officer to be sure that you are not of threat. Come with us.”

Two of the armed men took you by the wrists and led you through the endless halls. When you thought you were about to keel over from exhaustion, you were thrown through a door. You promptly tripped over yourself and face-palmed the floor.

            “Umph. O~oow…”

You gathered yourself and stood up, all the while rubbing your aching forehead. When you looked up, you found yourself staring at none other than the head-of-security. At least, you assumed he was.

“Miss (Y/n), I have heard of your whereabouts.”

“Yes. I was standing before the staircase of the dungeons.”

He smirked. “And may I ask, why were you there?”

“I- erm, was looking at the architecture. It is a magical place.”

“I know. Some of us will never get over how beautiful it is. Most of us know to stay far from where you were, though. Are you aware of the regulations?

You blinked in a moment of confusion. “Regulations?”

“Oh yes. If you lived in this castle, you would know that there are rules. For instance, to stay away from the dungeons, or to suffer the consequences. You could have broken in. We need to keep it safe around here-”

“I assure you, sir, that I had no intentions of breaking in and releasing one of your prisoners for any purpose whatsoever…” You palms were beginning to sweat from clenching your fists.

He gave you a quizzical look. “Your body language would say otherwise, (Y/n). Is there a certain prisoner that you were trying to get to? Perhaps one of the more recent ones?”

Your eyes widened for a moment before you sighed. “No sir. I promise that I am telling you the truth.”

He laughed. He laughed so hard that you couldn’t help but let out an awkward chuckle yourself.

“Oh, (Y/n). You should know that I have the ability to mind-read. You may have cast the spell to hide from Heimdall, but you cannot hide from me.”

You looked down in shame. Of course someone like this would be an interrogator. You cannot maneuver from their minds.

“Honestly, I have no idea what I was thinking…”

“Another lie. Have you not yet realized I can see everything? You knew exactly why you were there. You knew who you were after, and how you would go about releasing him. We have several guards surrounding him, by the way. It would have been impossible to free Loki.”

            You shuddered. You were doomed.

“What will you do with me?”

He chuckled slightly. “The All-Father will decide that.”

            ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

After your face had contorted to one of terror, then fear, then solitude, he had cuffed you from behind with a special (perhaps majik) pair of Asgardian handcuffs. Surrounded by five guards, you were led to the throne room.

Earning a few cold glares from the guards outside the door, you walked into the large chamber. The room was a brilliant gold and a beautifully carved circular window was in the center. In front of it were steps that led to the throne itself. On the throne sat the All-Father himself, in all of his glory. At his side was the All-Mother.

You smiled up at them as you got down on your right knee and attempted to place your right fist on your heart. It was impossible with your handcuffs, though. You looked down in shame.

            “You may rise now.”

            You rose at his command.

            “What brings you here, child?”

You smirked. “You are just as they say in the stories, oh Odin, the stupendous.”

He frowned, knowing full well what you were doing.

“Flattery will not work with me. I shall ask again, what were you doing outside the dungeons?”

You sighed overdramatically. “I wanted to give Loki what he deserves.”

He raised his eyebrows. “And what would that be?”

You looked him in the eyes. “Freedom.”

“Do you not understand the gravity of his crimes?”

            “I do.”

“And you still think that he should be free.”

You nod with a quiet yes.

            “Why is that so?”

Before you realized what you were saying, the words tumbled out of your mouth. “What he has done was not him. It was his grief, his anger, and his sorrow within himself that lead him to Midgard. The reason of his disappearance was out of your word, was it not? He let go, and he was vulnerable. He felt he needed to prove himself still. He tried to rule over Midgard to be of equal worth to Thor. Can you not see that, Odin? Or have you been so ignorant as to not understand your…. son.”

By the end of your little speech, Odin was seething. You had tensed once you thought to what you had just said.

“That is not of importance. You should never talk to someone of my title like that. For your wrongdoings, you shall have your mouth sewn. No one shall have to hear your words again. Guards, take her to the healers. Once you have done that, I command you to place her in the cell to the side of Loki. Make her see what worth he truly holds.”

Your face held a look of shock. Frigga cast you a sympathetic gaze as you were escorted out of the throne room and directed to the healers’ room.

            ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

It hurts- oh dear God it hurts.

This set of words was on replay the entire time. They had taken a needle and stitching thread and sewn your mouth shut. At first you had difficulty breathing, but after a few minutes, you had started to breathe through your nose. You feared when your nose would get stuffed up. You really didn’t want that.

The healers did not even bother to wipe the blood from your face. You couldn’t do it yourself, for you were still handcuffed. The guards marched back in the room and shoved you out the door.

You wondered for a moment if this could be a good thing. You were being placed in the cell next to Loki’s. After watching him from afar all these years, you would now be right beside him, as you always dreamed.

But then the doubt had crept in. Perhaps he would resent your failed attempt at a rescue. Maybe he would be unwilling to even acknowledge you.

As you had traveled through those very same doors you wished to pass through before, you were at war with yourself. It certainly did not help your sanity that you were running on a lack of sleep, drained power (from your use of majik), and exhaustion from walking so much. Not to mention your difficulty breathing with your mouth sewn.

You wished you hadn’t even tried.

The doors opened to reveal the dungeons of Asgard. You smirked a bit as all of the prisoners heads turned to look at you, but regretted it immediately as you felt your mouth begin to tear. You kept your face straight instead, trying to stop the tears from streaming down your face.

You glanced around as you continued walking forward behind the head guards. Your eyes fell on a figure who was sitting calmly in the corner of his cell. In his hand, he held a book. He looked up and narrowed his eyes as your gazes met, but his face quickly softened. You looked away quickly and instead watched as they opened the door to your cell.

When the door was opened, they shoved you in and quickly locked it again. You turned around and gestured to your handcuffs, but they were already walking away. You would have sighed if you could. Instead, you sat in the farthest corner from the figure, who you quickly identified as Loki. You pulled up your knees and placed you head on them. It was uncomfortable, given the fact that your hands were bound behind you, but by now you did not care. You just silently cried.

You knew not how long you sat there, but by the time that you looked up the torches were unlit and the normal light of the cell was dimmed. The shimmer of the cell barrier glistened with the shine of the two torches by the entrance and a small candle in Loki’s cell. You blinked a few times before you regained your vision. When your eyes had adjusted, you stood up and walked to the front of your cell. It appeared that everyone was asleep (besides you, of course). You looked over to Loki’s cell to see him lying on his bed. You had no bed, and were a little envious.

You thought it best to find a good place to rest for the night. The most comfortable looking space in your cell was a little dip in the corner closest to Loki, on the exact opposite space from his bed. You sat down against it and drooped your shoulders when you realized that the handcuffs were being uncomfortable again. At this rate, you would never rest.

            “You seem restless.”

You jumped slightly and shifted around to see Loki looking at you with bright eyes.

“What is troubling you? Or shall I ask, how did you end up here? These are the deepest dungeons of Asgard.”

All you could do was watch him in silence.

He sighed impatiently. “What is your name?”

You wondered how he did not notice your blood-stained mouth, but then it was very dark. I’m sorry! I cannot speak!

In the light, you saw his eyes glint with curiosity. “Can you speak?”

You shook your head ‘no’ softly. He looked away.

“You are the girl who tried to free me, are you not?”

Your expression changed to surprise as you looked downward awkwardly. You hesitantly shook your head ‘yes’ while wondering how he knew that. As though reading your thoughts, he continued.

“Word spreads quickly of events like this. You are the talk of Asgard, (Y/n). How does it feel? Now you have an understanding of how I have felt my whole life.”

You just gave him a sympathetic look and fumbled with your handcuffs. He noticed your actions.

“It was no coincidence, putting those on you. They used the same ones on me. Only Thor, Frigga, or Odin can release you, (Y/n). Good luck convincing them.”

If you could have, you would have laughed at that last remark. The sarcasm dripping from him as he spoke could have filled an ocean. Instead, you tried a smile. You winced.

You observed as he took his candle and placed it besides you and him. Now you could see him clearly, and him you. He raised his eyebrows at the sight of your face and bit his lip slightly.

“I’m sorry about what they did to you. It had to have hurt.”

You narrowed your eyes. Loki was never mushy-gushy. It was rare that he ever softened, let alone apologized. You looked away and instead watched as the candle flickered.

He let out another sigh and looked around uncomfortably. “And I wanted to thank you for trying to free me. And after failing, to still stand up for me. That was brave.”

At this, you looked to him. His face was pulled into a somewhat forced smile and his eyes glistened in the lowlight. You offered another small smile and blushed slightly.

He looked you over a bit before lying back down on his bed. “You should get some sleep, (Y/n). Goodnight.”

You adjusted yourself so that you lied on your side before closing your eyes.

            Goodnight, love.

            ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

You heard a loud clang and woke.

You blinked your eyes open and closed them quickly again. Once you felt you had the energy, you opened them and sat up. Out of the corner of your eyes, you saw the doors to the dungeons open and the guards marched through.  You flicked your gaze to Loki’s cell, and in it you saw Frigga. You blinked in slight disbelief as she sent a warm smile in your direction.

“Mother, do you think you could help (Y/n) remove her handcuffs? Perhaps her mouth as well.”

She sported a thinking face before turning back to Loki. “My son, I wish I could. You know how my holograms work.”

He glared at her. “Then shall you instruct for a guard to do it? She is uncomfortable.”

Your eyes sparkled as you watched him defend you. It was gratifying knowing that the man who you had tried to bust out was here for you, as well.

They came to an agreement and Frigga faded out. When she was gone, Loki turned to you. He walked over to the glass wall that separated you and you did the same.

“I hope that they arrive soon. I wish to hear your voice.”

You couldn’t help but smile largely at that. In turn, you felt the thread rip at your lips. You let out a muffled mewl at the stinging sensation as tears flowed freely down your cheeks. Loki’s expression was horrified as he watched the blood drip from your mouth.

“How tight did they sew you?!”

You just shrugged and continued to sob.

His face turned angry and he began to pace his cell. You could not wipe the blood away, for your hands were still bound. You collapsed to the ground in defeat. He turned to look at you.

            “Don’t give up.”

            You didn’t look up.

            “Look at me, (Y/n).”

Your (e/c) eyes looked up to meet his shining ice green ones.

“You did not give up on me. Do not give up on yourself. We will fix you up.”

You looked away solemnly. The doors of the dungeon promptly opened to reveal Frigga herself and two guards who flanked her sides. She walked to your cell and opened the majik panel. When she had closed the door again, the guards left to stand by the doorway. Frigga pulled out a few small tools and a cloth from a pocket in her dress.

“Worry not, child. I shall mend you and be rid you of your cuffs.”

She gently kneeled down and pulled your (h/l), (h/c) hair away from your face. You winced as she made the first incision into your skin. She worked her way through all of the holes until the thread was fully removed. Once she had cleaned the blood from your mouth with the cloth, you took in a deep breath. She stood, and you stood with her. She turned you around and removed your handcuffs. You turned again to face her and gave her a tight hug.

            “Thank you, All-Mother.”

            Loki’s POV:

            “Thank you, All-Mother.”

That voice. That so very sweet voice. It was simply magnificent, just like her. Hearing it once made me wish to hear it forever…

In the cell, this cage, I had gone two days without the company of anyone. When I heard word of a new prisoner, I was actually interested. Maybe this prisoner could help me escape. That would be most helpful.

After listening to the guards outside talking some more, I gathered more information. For example, she was a female that went by the name (Y/n). As I listened closer, I heard that she had tried to free me and stood up to Odin for my sake.

I had not even met her, but I had found her intriguing.

When I had first seen her, I thought she was just another overly-confident bitch who was looking for attention. When I looked closer, and as she was shoved into her cell, I saw someone else entirely.

She was beautiful. Her (h/l), (h/c) hair shined in the torch light and her (e/c) eyes glistened and highlighted. Her (s/c) skin glowed. I needn’t look twice to know she could wield majik.

I had placed my book down and watched as she sat down and cried. She had stayed there for God knows how long before she finally looked up. I lied down in bed and listened, but sat up when her shuffling ceased. She had sat down uncomfortably opposite my bed and was looking to the wall in front of her.

I had spoken to her, but she had not replied. She may had been shyer than I realized. When I saw that her mouth was sewn, I knew I had to change that.

The following morn, I had spoken with Frigga about fixing her. When we came to an agreement, and she had gone, I looked back to (Y/n).She looked completely drained of hope. It unsettled me to see her like this. I quickly comforted her and awaited Frigga’s arrival.

Once she had fixed (Y/n), I smiled. She looked so happy. Then her voice had rang out like a bell. “Thank you, All-Mother.”

Frigga and the guards left, leaving (Y/n) and me. She turned in my direction and walked towards me, a true smile adorning her face.

“Hello, Loki. How are you faring?”

I laughed softly. “I am faring well, (Y/n). What brings you to these parts?”

Now she laughed. “Oh, the usual. Attempting to break out a prisoner of Asgard should be on everyone’s to-do list.”

I smiled warmly at her. “I like you.”

She blushed a light pink and looked away awkwardly. “I like you too.”

I placed my hand against the wall. “Would you fancy having a midday meal with me?”

She giggled and looked back to me. “I would. Thank you, my prince.”

            I smirked. “Ooo~ Possessive. I’ll remember that.”

She blushed a deeper red. My smirk grew into a grin.

“Guards! Come over please!” (Y/n) gave me a quizzical look as the guards approached my cell.

“I’ll have glass of tea and a cheese platter. A (favorite drink) for her and (favorite food).”

The guards rolled their eyes but left to fulfil the order anyway.  When they were gone, she let out a whole-hearted laugh.

“Oh- oh my gosh! Ha! How did you even know that was what I wanted?”

I shrugged and smiled softly. “I suppose it was just a good guess.”

(Y/n) looked at me warmly before turning her gaze to the doors.

            “Did you hear that, Loki?”

I frowned. “No. What is it you speak of?”

To answer my question, the doors barged open and fighting erupted in the dungeon hall. Armored soldiers fought Asgardian guards in a clash for their lives. I knew that there was nothing that I could do, so I sat and picked up my book and began to read.

            Reader’s POV:

You watched in awe at the scene that unfolded in front of you. The Asgardians were warring right before your eyes! You could watch, and be safe at the same time.

You were slightly uneasy when the attackers began freeing prisoners. You retreated to the back right corner of your cell and pulled your knees up- just as you had done before. You glanced over to Loki to see him reading a book. You almost couldn’t contain your laughter at the sight. He honestly could not care less.

You watched curiously as a beast approached your cell. He looked you over before walking over to Loki’s. When he approached, Loki stood to meet him. The monster left him to and was about to head up the stairs when Loki commented, “Take the stairs on your left. They’re much quicker.” The monster gave him a death glare before taking the left instead. Loki just smirked.

When the battle seemed like it had died down, you stood up and walked over to Loki. His face lit up as he put his book down and walked over to meet you. You were about to say something when the doors yet again burst open. Three guards walked over to Loki’s cell. Their faces were stoic.

“Where is our midday meal?” Loki asked in a bitter tone.

The guard looked at him almost sympathetically. "We have not come to bring you your meal. We come bearing news of the battle.”

Loki’s face turned hard. “What of it? What has happened?”

“The All-Mother has passed. Odin wished me to notify you of this, and that you cannot be in the attendance of her funeral. That is all.”

The guards quickly took their leave. When they were gone, Loki walked to the center of his room, where he threw all of his furniture from him with majik. He began pacing his cell and throwing books. He knocked over an older cup of berries and paced over them, too. When he stopped pacing, he let out a somber wail.

“WHY? Why did it have to be her? She was the only one who ever truly loved me…” He trailed off as he fell on his knees and cupped his face. He cried gently as he rocked back and forth in an attempt to calm himself down.

“Shhh…. It is okay. I am here with you. You will be alright.” You heard yourself before you knew you were speaking. “Shhhh… shhh…”

He was evidently calming down, but to be sure, you began to hum softly. From that hum, you started to sing.

Well, I heard there was a secret chord.

That David played and it pleased the Lord.

But you don’t really care for music do you…

            Well it goes like this…

            The fourth,

            The fifth,

The minor fall and the major lift.

            The baffled king, composing Hallelujah.

            Hallelujah~ hallelujah…

            Hallelujah~ Hallelu-u-u-u-ujah…

By now Loki looked fully relaxed. He looked up from his hands to look at you. His eyes were red and puffy from crying and his face was red from angst, but he was still breathtakingly beautiful.

He swallowed hard before whispering, “That was wondrous.”

You smiled and laughed a bit. “Thank you. Are you feeling better?”

He smiled back softly. “Yes. I am feeling much better.”

            “Good. I am glad.”

It was that moment that you felt the need to hug him. It was almost like a craving. You needed to make sure that he was really okay. You placed your hand on the wall and whispered a spell as a small opening appeared. You continued chanting until you could fit yourself through.

When you were through, you helped Loki get up to his feet. When he was standing, you took him in your embrace. “Oh, Loki. It feels so good to finally be touching you.”

You looked him in the eyes as he smiled thoughtfully. Before you had time to relax, he pulled you into a kiss. You smiled into it and grinned wider as he pulled away.

            “I think that I love you, (Y/n).”

You gave him a wink before replying. “I know you do.”
