        Chapter Three: Trouble in Asgard

I was tired of this. Day after day I would sit here, in this cage, never to be let out again. I just couldn’t live like this anymore. It was a good thing that I had been plotting my escape for a month. It hadn’t been an easy task to create a plan without my magic.

I had my finally found my answer: hydrofluoric acid.

I had asked the guards for some mouth wash and a few water bottles. They hadn’t a single clue as to what I had planned. I smiled widely as they brought what I had asked for, knowing my release was near.

“Prince Loki, here are the items you requested.”

Thank you, guardian.” I just couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face.

Taking hold of the four items through the enchanted hole in the wall, I relish in their undeniable beauty. This would be the set of items that would bring me to my real home. To Jotunheim.

Once the guards were away, I make quick work of the formula. I had read many books in my time, and this was one of the situations where it had come in handy. I had asked the guards for a bucket a week ago; they had given me a queer look, but still granted my wish. Oh, how above them I was.

I grab one of the three water bottles and uncap its top. Pouring its contents into the bucket, I reach for the next. One by one I pour in all of the components, watching intently as the mixture begins to bubble with an odd scent. I grin once more as I realize that I have done it. Today would be my glory day.

I scrupulously pick up the bucket, being cautious so as not to tempt fate. I guide it over to the glass wall, letting out the breath I was holding in. With all the fight I have in me, I pour all of the confection down the wall. I let out a slight chuckle as the glass melts away, revealing a gaping hole in the barrier. I step through effortlessly.

        And now, I run.

        ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

I was running, for that was all I could do. Guards would be defending the stables, so I could not ride my horse. I knew it would only be a matter of time before Thor would catch up with me, for I had seen him, and he had seen me, and it was a race for freedom.

It had taken more time than I had thought, but I had arrived at the Bifrost in great condition. As always, the all-watching Heimdall stood stoically behind his spear, awaiting any orders that the All-Father may have. He watched in slight curiosity as I pace towards him. I was the first to make a move.

It was most certainly nice to have my magic back; I hadn’t felt this good in years. I summon my spear, the only weapon I have left, as I aim to strike.

        “Brother!”

Swiftly, I turn around to see the distressed face of Thor.

“What is the meaning of this, brother?” His loud, booming voice makes me cringe.

“I am NOT your brother! And I had thought of a plan, a spectacle, really. I was to escape, make a home of Jotunheim, and give them their true king. That is what I am, correct? A Jotun? Or maybe I just forgot when I was being hidden away as an animal amongst gods.”

Thor began to mumble, but I hadn’t listened, for before my eyes was Odin, and the look in his eye could kill forty men at least. I shifted my feet uncomfortably as I look at him. Then he speaks.

“Loki. Oh, Loki, what have you gotten yourself into?” He thought me a fool!

“By all means Odin no disrespect but-“

“SILENCE!” Oh dear. “Loki Laufeyson, you have betrayed us far too many times to count. Your mischievous ways have led all of Asgard to believe you a burden. I see no other way but this.”

I narrowed my eyes, but watched still as he continued.

“I, All-Father, have thwarted thee yet again of catastrophe, but as all know it is to happen again, I take from you, your power! And I cast you out!”

As those utterly menacing words are spoken, I feel the spear fly from my grip, all of my magic with it. I am flung back as I feel the pulse of the Bifrost pulling at me. I have nothing to do but let go.

        And I close my eyes….

You finally get some Loki action! Hurrah! All of this is in his perspective, but in the next chapter it won't be. ;) I just needed to make sure that you guys all knew what happened and how he will end up on Midgard. :D

I spent so long on this chapter it isn't even funny. :| But I am pretty proud of the outcome! Tell me what you guys think in the comment section below! Constructive criticism is ALWAYS welcomed, so don't be afraid to be harsh! That is how writers develop better skills, so I am grateful for all of your feedback.
